McIlroy misses U.S. Open cut with double bogey

Rory McIlroy double-bogeyed No. 9, his final hole of the second round, to miss the cut at the U.S. Open.

Entering the hole at 6 over, McIlroy needed par to make the cut.

Phil Mickelson (+7), Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose (+7) and Ernie Els (+10) were among those to miss the cut.

Mickelson and Fowler are the only players currently ranked among the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking to miss the cut at the Masters, Players Championship and U.S. Open.
