ATLANTA -- Freddie Freeman's leadoff single in the 11th inning against the Cincinnati Reds made him the first Atlanta Braves player to hit for the cycle in nearly eight years.
Freeman doubled in the third inning, tripled in the fourth and hit his 11th homer in the sixth Wednesday night.
He is the first Atlanta hitter to hit for the cycle since Mark Kotsay against the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 14, 2008. He's also the first player in the majors to hit for the cycle this season.
Following Freeman's single, the Braves loaded the bases with no outs in the 11th but could not score. They eventually finished it off with a 9-8 win in the 13th inning when Chase d'Arnaud's bases-loaded single capped a three-run rally.
